Bloom Later by Jesse®

Artist: Jesse®

Genre: Pop

Length: 2:40

“Bloom Later” is the sixth track on Jesse Rutherford’s debut solo album &. It’s an acoustic and poetic love song, featuring vocals from American singer-songwriter and lo-fi artist Field Medic. Throughout the song, Jesse uses an extended metaphor of him being a flower or some type of plant and his lover being the sun. He is, in this song, emphasising how much he needs his lover to continue in life, to grow and to become a better person.

Bloom Later lyrics

Leaving you
Is so hard to do
Keeps me blue 'til I
Every time you glow
Then I start to grow
Can't do it alone anymore in the dirt
Even when it rains, I need your little raise
Some things never change even when they hurt
Where you going?
I'm too fast
You say what you doing?
Don't do that
Never been a liar
I'm a lilac and you are my sun
And every season I need you to come back
When you're gone
Sky turns crimson
So I wait for the dawn 'til I
Every time you shine
You help me define
How to remind myself what it's worth
Even when it rains, I need your little raise
Some things never change even when they hurt
Where you going?
I'm too fast
You say what you doing?
Don't do that
Never been a liar, baby
I'm a lilac and you are my sun
And every season I need you to keep glowing
Come back, glowing
Come back, glowing
Come back, glowing
Come back
Where you going?
I'm too fast
You say what you doing?
Don't do that
Never been a liar, baby
I'm lilac and you are my sun
And every season I need you to come back
