The Tide Is High by Blondie

Artist: Blondie

Genre: Pop

Length: 3:52

Released: 1999

Blondie’s early 1981 chart-topping cover of Jamaican group The Paragons song was the lead single of the album Autoamerican, where they incorporated elaborate orchestration, heard clearly in this song. Blondie keeps the Reggae' beat and changes the gender of the target of affection in the song. It was also internationally successful, their third consecutive #1 in the UK and a top 20 hit in several other countries. “The Tide Is High” is also memorable for the random appearance of a Darth Vade...

The Tide Is High lyrics

The tide is high but I'm holdin' on
I'm gonna be your number one
I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no
It's not the things you do that tease and hurt me bad
But it's the way you do the things you do to me
I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no
The tide is high but I'm holdin' on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one
Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn
I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one
Every girl wants you to be her man
But I'll wait my dear 'til it's my turn
I'm not the kind of girl who gives up just like that
Oh, no
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
Number one, number one
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one, number one
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
The tide is high but I'm holding on
I'm gonna be your number one
