Scar Tissue by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Artist: Red Hot Chili Peppers

Genre: Pop

Length: 3:35

The first single off of Californication describes the struggles addicts go through to get sober and how they are viewed differently when they return to reality. Scar tissue is a good comparison, as it is a sign that there was damage but it healed, and it could also refer to the healed areas where an addict used to inject themself. This song won them a Grammy in 2000 for Best Rock Song, and peaked at #8 on the Billboard Charts.

Scar Tissue lyrics

Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
Push me up against the wall
Young Kentucky girl in a push-up bra
Ah, fallin' all over myself
To lick your heart and taste your health, cause
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely view
Blood loss in a bathroom stall
Southern girl with a scarlet drawl
Wave good-bye to ma' and pa' cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
Soft spoken with a broken jaw
Step outside but not to brawl
Autumn's sweet we call it fall
I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl and
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely view
Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely viewin'
With the birds I'll share this lonely view
